Bashiru Abdullahi shatters School Record for the second time in two weeks

National U-20 Record Holder in the 110m hurdles, Bashiru Abdullahi has been gaining grounds since he arrived US in January.

The North Carolina University student broke his school 60mh record for the second time this season running a blistering 7.77s which also ranks him 16th in USA.

Bashiru was at the Don Kirbly Invitational in New Mexico winning his Semifinal in 7.77s before finishing 5th in the final with 7.89s.

Two weeks ago at the Ese Oguma Invite, he ran 7.85s to finish 2nd in the 60m hurdles which was the existing till last week.

Also at the meet, Knowledge Omovoh of Grand Canyon University won the 400m and 200m in 56.12s and 24.78s.

Away from New Mexico, Naija athletes at Middle Tennessee State University (M.T.S.U) did their school proud at the Music City Challenge as they made their last appearance before Conference Championship.

It was a double win from the Nigerian duo, Edoki Fabian and Abike Egbeniyi who took the Long Jump and 400m victories respectively. Edoki leaped a mark of 7.92m while Abike raced to a Season’s Best of 53.04s.

Cecilia Francis finished 3rd in the Women’s 60m with a Personal Best of 7.46s while Arinze Benjamin who made his second appearance for the Blue Raiders finished 7th in a Personal Best of 7.35m.

At the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, AR, Usoro Ruth (5.94m) and Mercy Abire (5.93m) finished 6th and 7th respectively in the Women’s Long Jump while Mercy went on to place 3rd in the Triple Jump with a distance of 12.77m.

Making a major headlines last weekend, 2018 African Silver 200m medalist, Divine Oduduru ran a blazing 6.56s to equal his School Record and ranked 6th in the World in the Men’s 60m at the Texas Tech Shootout on Saturday, 9th Feb. 2018.

Adidas sponsored and reigning 100mh Commonwealth Games Champ, Tobi Amusan raced to a Seasons Best of 8.03s at the NYRR Millrose Games on Saturday in the women’s 60m hurdles. Amusan was a finalist at the 2018 World Indoor Champs last season.
