At the ongoing World U-20 championships in Cali, Nigeria had two representatives in the women’s 100m, Tima Godbless and Ofoku Praise. While the latter bowed out in the semis, the former advanced to the finals having run two of her fastest times ever in her career in both qualifying rounds. She was a hot favorite for a medal!
However things didn’t go as promised as she fell short of the podium in the finals finishing fifth in 11.19s but fought very hard to get a medal even crashing to the ground at the line.
Her valiant efforts earned a place in Nigerian hearts. And we are really proud of her.
Though she didn’t get a medal, she would go back home with a big personal best she’d set earlier in the heats when she clocked a blistering 11.08s a new national U20 record.
She’ll be back with her teammates in the 4×100m relays.
