Esther Kolawole gears up for busy International wrestling season ahead of World Championships

Paris 2024 Olympian and reigning African champion, Esther Kolawole, is set to feature at the prestigious Spanish Wrestling Grand Prix, taking place from July 4th to 7th, 2025. The Nigerian wrestling sensation, who competes in the 62kg weight class, will aim to replicate or surpass her 2024 performance in Madrid, where she clinched a bronze medal for Team Nigeria. Her participation underlines Nigeria’s growing presence on the global wrestling scene.

Following her campaign in Spain, Kolawole will head to Budapest, Hungary, for the World Wrestling Ranking Series from July 14th to 19th, 2025. These back to back international events serve as critical build up competitions as she prepares for the highly anticipated 2025 World Wrestling Championships scheduled to hold in Croatia this September. The Ranking Series will provide Kolawole the opportunity to secure vital points and fine tune her strategies ahead of the global showdown.

Joining Kolawole on this international tour is the Nigerian Women’s National Wrestling Coach, Akuh Purity, who continues to guide the country’s female wrestlers to international success. With Nigeria looking to maintain its dominance on the continent while breaking new ground on the world stage, Esther Kolawole’s upcoming performances will be closely watched by Nigerias and stakeholders in Nigerian sports.
