Mercy Abire & Raymond Ekevwo record PB’s at SEC Championships

At the SEC Championships which took place in Arkansas, US, Nigerian athletes present also gave a good account of themselves leaping and running PB’s.

University of Florida’s Raymond Ekevwo, better his Personal Best of 6.67s which he ran in the qualifying rounds of the 60m by 0.01s to finish 6th in the final.

While Long Jump sensation, Mercy Abire leaped a mark of 6.26m which is .new PB for the Louisiana State University athlete which placed her in 4th position.

At the MSPF Championships in Seattle, Bashiru Abdullahi of North California State University, ran 7.90s to finish in close 2nd in the Men’s 60m hurdles in his first year in the US.

Knowledge Omovoh, a Freshman at Grand Canyon University despite winning the 400m at the WAC Championships in a massive Personal Best of 54.30s, got disqualified for lane infringement.

Over at Boston, Kelechi Nwanaga competed at the America East Indoor Championships where she finished 5th in the women’s Shot Put with a distance of 13.23m.

Nigerian athletes just seems to get faster once they get to US and we can not deny the fact that they are in a system that is working. We do hope things can get working in Nigerian Athletics again!
