Nigerian Hammer Record holder, Annette ECHIKUNWOKE wins Bronze at US Trials to qualify for Team USA

After breaking the African and Nigerian record multiple times, Annette Echikunwoke has switched allegiance back to the United States.

The 25-year-old opted to compete for Nigeria in 2020 ahead of the Tokyo Olympics Games but due to not having three competition tests, she became ineligible to make her Olympic debut.

Her record of 75.49 set in May 2021 will still stand and might be for a long time as no Nigerian has come close to her mark in recent years.

At the ongoing United States Championships this weekend, Annette finished 3rd in the Hammer event with a throw of 73.76s and will represent the USA at the World Championships in Oregon next month.

We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
