Oluwaseun Olamide has announced her support for the Women’s 5000m and Men’s 1500m at the Athletic Heat 10th Anniversary Meet, scheduled for November 7, 2026, at the YabaTech Sports Complex in Lagos.

As part of her sponsorship, Olamide will provide prize money for the top four finishers in each event:

🥇 1st — ₦100,000

🥈 2nd — ₦50,000

🥉 3rd — ₦30,000

4th — ₦20,000

For Olamide, the decision to support the two events is deeply personal, having previously competed as a distance and middle distance athlete herself.

Speaking on her decision to support the meet, Olamide said her experience as an athlete gave her a first hand understanding of the discipline, sacrifice, mental strength and determination required to compete at a high level.

“I was once an athlete myself, a distance and middle-distance runner, so I understand what it takes to compete in these events. I know what it feels like to train when no one is watching, push through difficult moments and keep believing in yourself when the finish line seems far away,” she said.

Olamide explained that athletics shaped her beyond competition, teaching her valuable lessons in discipline, perseverance, leadership and resilience.

Those experiences, she said, continue to influence her passion for supporting athletes and encouraging them to pursue their goals both on and off the track.

Her sponsorship of the Women’s 5000m and Men’s 1500m is therefore a way of giving back to the sport that played an important role in her life.

“I want today’s athletes to know that their hard work matters and that there are people who believe in their dreams,” Olamide said. “Whether they are competing for a personal best, a medal, a scholarship or simply the pride of crossing that finish line, I want them to understand that every step of their journey has value.”

She also described the 5000m and 1500m as events that represent endurance, strategy, courage and the determination to keep going even when the body and mind begin to demand otherwise.

As Athletic Heat marks 10 years of promoting and telling the stories of Nigerian and African athletes, Olamide said she was proud to contribute to the anniversary celebration and invest in the next generation.

“Once an athlete. Always an advocate for athletes,” she concluded.

The Athletic Heat 10th Anniversary Meet will bring athletes together for a major day of competition, while also serving as a preparation opportunity ahead of the 2026 National Sports Festival.
