Oregon22: Nigeria 4x400m mixed qualifies for final

The quartet of Dubem Amene, Imaobang Nse Uko, Samson Nathaniel and Patience Okon George fought for a spot in the final, securing it with 5th position in a season best time of 3:14.56s  in heat 1 of the 4×400m mixed.

Thankfully, it wasn’t as hazardous as it we thought for the athletes who flew in from Nigeria as Patience Okon George and Samson Nathaniel arrived hours to the event, but they still managed to put up a good show by qualifying for the finals. A job well done by the athletes.

African and National Champion in the women’s hammer throw, Oyesade Olatoye, competed this evening, but sadly  missed the final with one spot. She landed a mark of 64.82m in the women’s hammer throw qualifications group A.

Her first throw was 62.53m, but had a no throw in the second round, she improved it in the third throw with 64.82m. She finished 13th overall and sadly won’t advance to the finals.

We recall that at the  2019 World Championships in Doha, she competed in the women’s Shotput qualifiers, and finished 13th as well. She will now turn her focus to winning medals at the Commonwealth Games which starts at the end of the month.

Day 2

Tomorrow we’d have the likes of Favour Ashe, Raymond Ekevwo, and Udodi Onwuzurike competing in their Respective 100m Men heats as well as National Record holder , Nathaniel Ezekiel in the 400m hurdles.

Away from the track, African Champion, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi and Doyin Ogundeji will compete in the men’s Shot Put event while Ruth Usoro will compete  in the Triple Jump event. Good luck Champs
