Raymond Ekevwo races to 60m PB at SEC Indoor Championshipsl

2016 National 100m Junior Champion, Raymond Ekevwo is back to form as he breaks his track silence at the SEC Indoor Championships which started yesterday, Feb 22nd in Arkansas.

Raymond, now a student of University of Florida, finished 2nd in heat 3 of the Men’s 60m behind teammate Ryan Clark (6.65) in a PB of 6.67s to qualify for the final later today, Saturday, Feb 23rd.

He will join teammates; Grant Holloway, Hakim SaniBrown and Ryan in the final.

We recall that Raymond won the Summit League Indoor Championships 60m gold medal for Oral Roberts University in 2017.

Also competing for Florida Gators was Fmr. National 400m Champion, Kunle Fasasi who finished 3rd in heat 9 of the Men’s 400m, running 47.58s to finish 23rd.

National Sports Festival medalist, Mercy Abire, competed in the women’s Long Jump for Louisiana State University wherein she finished just outside the medal table in 4th with a leap of 6.26m and she was shy 0.06m to clinch the bronze.

Away from Arkansas, Divine Oduduru is currently at the Big 12 Championships where he won heat 1 of the 60m in 6.61s which ranks him 3rd overall entering the final. The other athletes who ran faster in the prelims are his teammates, so we might see 1-2-3 for Texas Tech University in the final today.

Divine Oduduru is tipped to pick a medal in both 60m and 200m at Big 12 Champs.

He also competed in the 200m where he raced to a Season’s Best of 20.41s to rank 2nd going into the finals.

All the best Champs!
