We are really excited about Ruth Usoro and Toluwani’s performances since they arrived US over 2 years ago.
Ruth, a student of South Plains College competed at the NJCAA Championships held at Pittsburgh University, where she clinched the Silver medal in the Women’s Long Jump (5.97) and Triple Jump(12.50) events.
The Triple Jump event was won by fellow Nigerian, Grace Anigbata in a Facility Record of 13.17m.
Ruth set an indoor Personal Beat of 7.52s enroute the final of the Women’s 60m where she went on to finish 4th posting a time of 7.56s.
This is an impressive performance from the Athletic Heat Co-founder. As at the 2018 Championships, Ruth finished 12th overall in the 60m with 7.60s.
As good as she is on the track, Usoro also takes studies seriously. The Western Junior College Athletic Conference recently honoured her in the WJCAC All-Academic 1st Team for having a grade point average of 3.64-4.0.
She is an example of Athletics in Schools Program as she is successfully combining School and Sports.
Grace Anigbata has continued her dominance in the Triple and High Jump as she clinched both titles at the NJCAA Indoor Championships.
Her 13.17m in the Triple Jump shattered her School Record, Facility Record and Personal Record while she surprisingly used the old Scissors style to win the High Jump with a height of 1.76m which is also an Indoor Personal Best and School Record for the African Champion who is a student at Cloud Community College.
