Well, they with some of the very best in the WORLD as seen in the picture includes; 2016 Olympic 110mh Champion, Omar McLeod, 2016 World Indoor 60m Champion, Trayvon Bromell, 2017 World Championship Relay Champion, Adam Gemili, 4-time World Champs medalist, Andre De Grasse, 2016 Olympic Bronze medalist Daryll Neita amongst other top world class athletes.
The team which is called Tumbleweed Track Club, trains under Puma coach Rana Reider in Florida.
They were all in action at the America Track League yesterday, Jan 24. Okagbare reigned in the women’s 60m. Her first indoor race in over 10 years. She stopped the clock in a sizzling Personal Best of 7.17s ahead of Christiania Williams (7.18s) and Kayla White (7.20s).
Divine Oduduru won his 60m heat with 6.70s but lowered it in the final to a Season’s Best of 6.65s to finish 2nd behind teammate, Bromell (6.48s) and ahead of Andre Ewers (6.67s).
It was a clean sweep for Tumbleweed Track Club in the men’s 60m.
The third Nigerian at the meet was 2019 World Championship finalist, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi who threw a decent 20.65m to place 2nd in the men’s Shot Put which was won with a World Record performance of 22.82m by USA’s Ryan Crouser.
Speaking after her race, Okagbare said she will be back for more indoor races if she’s healthy.
“I’m excited especially running a Personal Best. Hopefully I will be back if I am healthy.”
Speaking on her health, she says she’s been healthier than she has been in a few years
“I’m healthier than I have been in the last four years. I don’t know how fast I will run but I know I am going to run descent times this indoors.
“It’s a great feeling getting to run on the track again after what happened last year. It’s a great feeling for people like us for what we do.” She said with excitement
Okagbare’s last 60m was at the NCAA D1 Championship in 2010 where she clinched the title in 7.18s. That same year she won the NCAA Long Jump title as well with 6.87m.
Okagbare won FOUR NCAA titles that year as she also won the Outdoor 100m (10.98s) and Long Jump (6.79m). She also took home 15 conference championships during her time with the program.
During the 2008 and 2010 seasons, Okagbare set a combined nine school records and was undefeated in the 100-meter dash and long jump in 2008
