The National Sports Commission (NSC) has officially confirmed the key dates for the 2025 National Youth Games, signaling the start of preparations for one of Nigeria’s most vibrant sporting events. To set the stage, a Joint Technical Meeting was held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, from 8th to 10th August 2025, starting at 9 a.m. daily. The meeting, chaired by Hon. Shehu Dikko, the meeting brought together stakeholders, technical officials, and sports administrators to finalize modalities for the smooth running of the Games. This critical gathering was held to address technical regulations, event scheduling, and logistics, ensuring a well organized competition.
Following the meeting, the timeline for the Games will officially kick off with registration of athletes and contingents from 12th to 20th August. The zonal eliminations will run from 16th to 18th August, serving as the preliminary phase where states compete for spots in the main event. The Pre-DRM (Delegation Registration Meeting) will follow on 19th and 20th August, giving teams the opportunity to submit final rosters and documentation. This phase will be succeeded by the DRM proper from 21st to 24th August, where final verifications, accreditations, and technical inspections will take place to confirm eligibility and readiness.
The 2025 National Youth Games proper will run from 26th August to 6th September, with young athletes from across the country converging on Delta State to compete in various sporting disciplines.
