Over the weekend, the NJCAA Region VI Indoor Championship and C-USA Indoor Championship took place in New Orleans and Alabama respectively and a couple of Nigerians were in attendance.
Athletic Heat best performances at the meet came from Best Erhire and Mercy Ntia-Obong.
Mercy Ntia-Obong won two Gold medals in the 60m and 200m while breaking a School Record in the short sprint, clocking 6.31s in the heat.
This is the fastest time ever ran in NJCAA since 19years ago when Veronica Campbell ran 7.26s while at Barton County College.
The Sophomore student at Cloud County College hasn’t lost any of her 16 races this season and we hope to see her win the title at the NJCAA Nationals.
Ehrire Best scooped two medals with astonishing Personal Bests in the High Jump and Triple Jump.
He leaped 15.10m in the Triple Jump for Silver and the 2.17m in the High Jump. Interestingly, his mark in the High Jump qualifies him for the World U20 Championships this year.
Congrats Champs!
