Nigeria’s sprint hurdler and world record holder, Tobi Amusan, is back on the track and back to winning ways. The 2022 world champion started her 2025 campaign with a sensational performance in the women’s 100m at the Velocity Fest in Jamaica, clocking 11.28s (-0.5) to secure victory. Despite specializing in the 100m hurdles, Amusan comfortably defeated Jamaica’s Serena Cole (11.45s) and The Bahamas’ Anthonique Strachan (11.46s), showcasing her raw speed and race sharpness early in the season.
Amusan remains the fastest woman in history over the 100m hurdles, holding the world record of 12.12s, which she set during the semi finals of the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Her early season success in the flat 100m further highlights her elite sprinting ability and serves as a strong indicator of her form ahead of the major competitions this year. With her sights set on reclaiming global titles, fans can expect even bigger performances from the Nigerian speedster as the season progresses.
