World U20 champion Udodi Onwuzurike continued his consistent 2025 campaign at the ISTAF Berlin meet, clocking 10.22s to secure 3rd place in a stacked men’s 100m field. The race was won by Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake in 10.05s, while the rest of the field battled tightly behind. Udodi’s performance adds to a string of sub 10.30 runs this season, highlighting his stability and presence on the international sprinting scene.
The Nigerian sprinter has enjoyed a steady progression throughout the year. Since opening with 10.29s on April 19, Udodi has registered times of 10.20s (May 17 & June 1), 10.05s (SB, May 17), 10.32s (May 24), 10.28s (July 19), and a pair of 10.27s (July 19 & 22) before dropping a 10.13s on July 22 his fastest wind legal time this season. His Berlin performance of 10.22s on July 27 shows he’s in consistent form and capable of delivering solid times against world class competition.
Fellow Nigerian Fola Olaoye also featured in the same race, placing 7th with a time of 10.29s. Olaoye has also maintained impressive consistency this year, running multiple sub 10.30s, including 10.29s (Apr 12), 10.28s, 10.27s (Jun 28), and a 10.24s, just shy of his PB of 10.21s. With both sprinters showing sharp form and steady progression, Nigerian sprinting is enjoying a resurgence that could lead to bigger breakthroughs on the global stage later in the season.
