Meet Flora Ugwunwa
Flora Ugwunwa is a Nigerian Paralympic athlete competing in F54-classification events. She first represented Nigeria at All African Games in Brazzaville, Congo where she won Gold in the Discus and Silver in Javelin.
She proceeded to the 2016 Summer Paralympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where she won the gold medal in the women’s javelin throw in a new world record of 20.25m.
Despite not competing for a very long time, the talented athlete got back to action at the 2019 World ParaAthletics Championship in Dubai where she won Silver in the Javelin which qualified her for the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
This year, 2021, she won Gold at the Tunis Grand Prix and Switzerland Grand Prix.
She is set to make the country proud in Tokyo, next August.
