South Plan’s Sophomore and Athletic Heat Co-founder, Ruth Usoro was at the Fearless Champions Meet hosted by Texas Tech University last weekend.
Usoro led the race from start to finish and posting a blistering 23.53s to commence her outdoor season. She is currently the leader in the National Junior Collegiate Athletics Association (NJCAA) over the 200m.
Her performance in the Indoors were very commendable ending the season with two silver medals in the Long and Triple Jump events while setting a Personal Best of 7.65s in the 60m.
At the Gold and Black Invitational which was held this weekend at Nashville, Tennessee saw a couple of Nigerian athletes compete in various events.
Cecilia Francis posted a third-place finish in the 100m with a time of 11.67 while finishing 7th in the 200m. She later teamed up with Edidiong, Caster and Mensah to secure the Silver medal in the Women’s 4x100m.
Isaac Odugbesan got the bronze in the men’s shot-put event after notching his best distance of 17.85m, in six passes.
This is a progressive performance from Odugbesan who competed and the Yellow Jacket Invite two weeks ago where he threw a distance of 17.66m.
Long Jump sensation, Edoki Fabian ran the 100m finishing 10th overall with 10.93s
Ekevwo Raymond helped his school, Florida University, secure the Gold medal in the Men’s 4x100m at the FSU Relays on Friday. He teamed up with Hakim Sani, Grant Holloway and Ryan to take the victory.
