German-based sports recruiting agency, Scholarbook, has announced its sponsorship for the 5th edition of the Athletic Heat Awards.
The Athletic Heat Awards which was first held in 2017 and was created by three athletes; Ese Oguma, Tolu Adebakin and Ruth Usoro. This event has recognised over 80 Nigerian athletes both home and abroad and the event as served as a morale boost to athletes over the last 5 years.
For this edition, Scholarbook decided to sponsor as this will serve as a way to further boost their presence amongst the Nigerian athletics community and Africa at large.
Speaking with the Head of Recruiting, Mr Phillip Baar, he said;
“Scholarbook decided to sponsor the Athletic Heat awards because we believe in the premiere talent of Nigerian athletes. We believe that Nigerian track and field is currently not where they could be and we want to be part of the process to turn them into a worldwide track and field powerhouse.
“Seeing how well the athletes in Nigeria perform with the little means they have made us believe that the Nigerian athletes are destined for greatness and will rather sooner than later be more present on the international track circuit. The best way to achieve this is to utilize the NCAA in order to get access to the best funding, competition and facilities.
“ Athletic Heat brings together both worlds: the Nigerian athletes in the NCAA, as well as the returners and home-based athletes. The awards encourage young athletes to shoot for the stars and pursue their dreams. It is a moment of appreciation for all athletes that do not get the appreciation they deserve. We at Scholarbook wanted to be part of the awards, as much as we want to be part of the Nigerian track and field future.”
In response, Athletic Heat CEO thanked Scholarbook for coming on board and hoped this will inspire more athletes
“I’m immensely grateful to have Scholarbook sponsor this year’s award. We are keen on collaborating with brands whose aims and objectives resonates with ours and Scholarbook is one of those brands.
“They are in partnership with over 60 universities in the United States and they have signed over 40 Nigerian athletes into their program with 6 already in the US living their dreams because of Scholarbook.
“I would implore every athlete whose dream is to study in America take this rare opportunity by signing up to Scholabook in other to achieve their collegiate ambitions.”
