There’s nothing as great as giving back and Nigeria’s top athletes are setting the ball rolling as regards giving back.
On October 9th, African Queen of the Athletics, Blessing Okagbare turned a year older and to celebrate her new age she launched the Blessing Okagbare Foundation which is focused on helping children, young adults and women.
On her Instagram page, she said,
“I have been making room for so many things around me and this right here is one of my most treasured project. I know today is my birthday and everyone might be expecting me to post pictures from photo shot, gifts and messages from people but the only thing I will be posting today is the The Blessing Okagbare Foundation that is finally ready for everything greatness, progress, support, growth, giving back, empowering and building. So, I am extremely happy and thankful to God that The Blessing Okagbare Foundation is here…🙏🏾🙏🏾 +1❤️. Today I am grateful for life and this initiative” she posted
Today, 16th October, the man behind the slogan “INeverExperredIt” launched his own foundation with the help of his Management Company, KS Management .
Divine took to his IG to share this,
“While Its been a journey with ups and downs but through God anything is possible and as he blessed me with the gift to do what I’ve done so far, I can only further extend that gift by sharing and being an inspiration others.” Divine stated.
His foundation objectives includes;
- Share with others
- Inspire and mentor the youth
- Run annual training clinics for aspiring athletes
- Visit schools, NGOs and other charitable organisations
He equally stated that there will be ways for fans to be active supporters of the foundation as more details will be shared soon. Follow and share as a foundation can impact so many lives.
Blessing Okagbare is the current African record holder in the 200m, she also holds the National 100m and 200m titles. In 2008, she won her Olympic bronze medal which was later upgraded to Silver after Russia’s Tatyana Lebedeva was stripped of her medal. She won a Silver and Bronze at the 2013 World Championships while clinching double Gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in a Games Record in the 100m.
Divine Oduduru is the National 200m record holder with his scintillating 19.73s at the NCAA last year. He is the reigning Collegiate sprint double champion and also holds multiple school Records at Texas Tech University. He is being managed by KS Management and sponsored by Puma and Visa.
